Visit to Adelaide High School Monday 22.02.11

Interesting morning at Southern Western Australian Education Service.
Presentation by Curriculum Manager in charge of New Media and Virtual Environments.ICT taught discreetly at Years 11 and 12 only.The guy who gave us the presentation had heard about City Academy,s new build!
Presentation by Don Priest Project Officer ,Digital Education Revolution .Interesting Presentation regarding delivery of Government initiative of one to one digital advice for every student.
This afternoon we visited Adelaide High School .Over subscribed ,highly academic school.80%of their students go on to University.
School Stats:
A SHIP school.(Students Higher Intellectual Programme)Ignite
1/3 of Year 8 students take an entry test.
7O cultural groups represented
30% of students receive assistance
60 students from all over the world study there each year.

ICT is used cross curricular.The schools mission statement and vision has ensured all teachers and students used ICT both collaboratively and independently.
80%of the students (800)have been issued with a laptop by June 2011 all students will have one.Teachers had laptops for 2 years before the students.

We had a tour of the school.It was very vibrant ,welcoming .In each classroom students were engaged in  purposeful learning both collaboratively and independently.
